We are a Lego family.
It is everywhere. On shelves, in cupboards, even under foot.
There is not a room in our house without Lego in it.
These small plastic building blocks are part of the building blocks of our family life.
I wonder what building blocks are part of your family life.
God knows what we are made of.
He knows what has made us and knows what makes us tick.
In Psalm 139:13-14 we read:
‘For it was you formed my inward parts,
you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Wonderful are your works, that I know very well.’
And Jesus speaks to our needs in His ministry on earth. And His prayer – the Our Father –
Speaks powerfully into our need for balance between Body, Mind and Spirit (or sometimes we call it Soul).
God wants us to live fully in the knowledge that He helps and sustains us,
that His spirit has breathed life into us as it did for Ezekiel in the valley of dry bones.
His spirit brings peace to our troubled minds when we call out in prayer as He did in the garden of Gethsemane.
And there is part of His image within our very souls.
There is a project going into schools supported by Lego and the Lego Professor at Cambridge University (Yes – that is a real job!).
It’s called Six Bricks and encourages children and staff to communicate and build and learn and play.
The work it does understands our need to be creative and brilliant problem solvers in life as well as in a classroom.
In a way it touches body, mind and spirit too – just with bricks.
What do you need to this weekend to feed your body, to challenge it or to care for it?
What do you need to do this week to nurture your mind, to bring it balance and focus or to turn down the speed and volume settings?
And What do you need to do to awaken your Spirit and to encourage your soul that it might reconnect with our God who blesses us?
My prayer is that the knowledge that God wonderfully made you will lighten any dark spirits within you.
My hope is that the encouragement to connect with yourself once again gives you permission to treat yourself well this week.
And my blessing would be that your building blocks of life include being loved, being valued and being awesome in God’s sight because you are.
Have a great day. It’s not quite here, but Friday’s coming...
