Our Humanities curriculum is designed to inspire our pupils to develop a curiosity and fascination about the world around them, its people and its history. We aim to foster a life-long love of learning through our thematic approach, where Humanities is the focal point that underpins all other subject areas.
Each half term, we base our learning around a History or Geography based theme. Our curriculum is then centred around this topic, so that the children are able to intertwine their skills and knowledge to make links across the subjects, providing and meaningful an purposeful learning experience with opportunities for awe and wonder.
We ensure that, where possible, our curriculum reflects our federation’s social context, utilises our locality and examines our place in the wider world, particularly with regard to global issues, such as climate change. Our spiralised approach to learning allows the children to revisit their prior learning; enabling them reinforce what they already know and to progressively build upon their skills and knowledge.
We continuously strive to broaden our pupils' cultural capital through our offer of enrichment opportunities.
